I always liked the look on Obi-Wan’s face while wielding his Light Sabre. It's taken a few decades to realise that’s because he looked like he trusted where he was directing it. This still evades me. Purposefully putting away distractions to write a little poem, or having a go at doing ‘just one thing’ helps me feel less scattered – for a while, anyway.
Light Chasing
Obi-Wan got it right
By teaching Luke to work with light
Wearing a blindfold.
He told his pupil
‘Stretch out with your feelings….’
When our thoughts are scattered
It matters even more
To sense our way
Withdraw from the distractions
That shapes the reactions
So oddly relieving.
Finding our way to
Believing we’re enough already
Even for a moment, makes us bright
Keeps our sabre steady
Helping us direct our light.
